Lahaul & Spiti Valley

Duration: 12 Nights / 13 Days

This tour traverses across Lahaul valley and across Rohtang Pass offering varied landscape, life styles and cultures on two sides of the mountain pass viz. Kullu and Lahaul valley. Crossing another mountain pass, the Kunzam Pass is the gateway to the Spiti valley. Spiti valley you can visit some very remote villages also regarded as one of the World's highest ones and also some enchanting old Buddhist monasteries

Day 01: Arrive in Manali
Arrive in Manali. On arrival check in to the Hotel for a oernight stay

Day 02: Manali
In Manali, spend early part of the day visiting local places of interest including Hadimba Temple, Manu Temple, Tibetan Monastery and Vashisht Village. Evening free to stroll on the Mall Road and for some local shopping. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 03: Manali to Keylong (115 km)
Travel by jeep from Manali to Keylong enroute visiting the Rohtang Pass (3980 m). Overnight stay in a hotel at Keylong.

Day 04: Keylong day excursion
Visit the Khardong monastery in the morning, which is a 12 km drive from Keylong. It is situated on the left bank of Bhaga River, above the Khardong village facing Keylong. This monastery is home to the largest number of monks and nuns in the Lahaul region. Visit the Shashur Gompa in the afternoon, dedicated to Lama Gotsang of Zanskar and belongs to the red sect, Gelug-Pa who have spiritual links with the Lion cave temple in Bhutan. Overnight stay in tents at Keylong.

Day 05: Keylong day excursion
Travel by jeep to Udaipur enroute visiting Trilokinath temple. Trilokinath is one of the most ancient temples in Lahaul. It was originally a Hindu temple and later converted to Buddhism, by installing statue of Phagpa Chrinzik. It is said that Guru Padma Sambhava also visited the temple. The temple is dedicated to the Pandavas as the legend says that the Pandavas spent a few days here during their 14 years exile. Later in the afternoon, visit the temple in Udaipur, which is known for its remarkable woodcarvings and dedicated to Mrikula Devi. This was constructed in the 15th century by the King of Chamba and his Lahauli feudal chief. After a day-long excursion, return to Keylong for overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 06: Keylong to Batal (170 km) - Chandratal Lake
Travel by jeep to Batal and walk to the fascinating sight of Chandratal lake. Overnight stay in tents at Chandratal lake.

Day 07: Chandratal Lake - Batal to Kaza (88 km)
Return to Batal from Chandratal lake. Move from Batal to Kaza by jeep over the Kunzam Pass (4558 m). Overnight stay in tents at Kaza.

Day 08: Kaza
Visit the Ki monastery next morning located 12 km from Kaza. This centuries old gompa is a labyrinth of rooms and corridors and at one time also acted as a fort. It houses valuable thangkas and offers a panoramic view of the area. Also visit the small gompa at Kibber located 9 km further ahead. Kibber at 4205 m has the distinction of being the highest permanently inhabited village of the region. Overnight stay in tents at Kaza.

Day 09: Kaza
Next morning, take an excursion to Pin Valley, the land of Ibex and Snow Leopards. Also visit the ancient monastery of Gungri in Pin Valley. Overnight stay in tents at Kaza.

Day 10: Kaza - Dankar - Tabo
Travel from Kaza to Tabo by jeep enroute visiting Dhankar gompa. Dhankar gompa rests high over the valley and is a great example of local architecture which served as a fort to the residence of the ruler of Spiti – the Nano. Founded in 996 AD, by the great teacher Richensang-po, Tabo is renowned for its breathtaking murals and stucco images and is often called "The Ajanta of the Himalayas". The largest monastic complex in Spiti, the old section has 9 temples, 23 chortens, a monks chamber and a nuns chamber. There are several caves adorned with frescoes and contemporary structures too. In trans Himalayan Buddhism, Tabo's sanctity is next only to Tibet's Tholing gompa. Overnight stay in tents at Kaza.

Day 11: Kaza – Manali (200 km)
Travel by jeep from Kaza to Manali. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 12: Manali
The day is free to relax. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 13: Manali - Departure
Morning check out of hotel and depart for onward destination Delhi / Chandigarh

Kinnaur & Spiti Jeep Safari

Duration: 11 Nights / 12 Days
Best Season: July to September

Kinnaur is one of the more scenic but lesser known districts of Himachal Pradesh. The Sutlej River, which rises on the southern slopes of Kailash Parbat near Manasarovar in Tibet, flows through the Kinnaur Valley. Areas closer to Shimla are lush and green. With the great range of main Himalayas in the background, this green sweep of the country is exceedingly beautiful and refreshing. The traveller beholds the long sweeping slopes of pure white snow, raging torrents emerging from caves of solid iridescent massive crags, formations that look like medieval citadels perched thousands of feet above the valley. Green grassy meadows stretch out for miles and delight the eye with a profusion of flowers - buttercups, daisies, forget-me-nots, wild roses, violets, anemones, iris, columbines, hardball, blue poppies and many other varieties growing in abundance.

Day 01: Arrive Shimla / Chail
Arrive in Shimla / Chail. Check in at Hotel. Relax or explore the majestic Himalayan towns. Overnight stay at Shimla / Chail.

Day 02: Shimla / Chail
Day tour of Shimla / Chail including visits to the ancient Jhaku temple and the Viceregal Lodge. Evening at leisure. Overnight stay in Shimla / Chail.

Day 03: Shimla / Chail - Sarahan (7 hrs)
Depart from Chail for Sarahan. Arrive in Sarahan and check in your hotel. Sarahan presents a magnificent spectacle of snow-covered peaks and is a picture of unspoilt pastoral life. Visit Bhimkali Temple. Overnight stay at Sarahan.

Day 04: Sarahan - Sangla (95 km / 6 hrs)
Depart from Sarahan for Sangla. Arrive and check in at the exotic campsite. Sangla, also known as Baspa Valley, is by far the most beautiful valley of Kinnaur. Overnight stay at Sangla.

Day 05: Day to explore Sangla Valley.
A hike to Sangla Kanda is highly recommended. Overnight stay in Sangla.

Day 06: Sangla-Kalpa (51 km/ 2 hrs)
Depart from Sangla for Kalpa. Arrive in Kalpa and check in at the hotel. Enjoy the spectacular views of Kinner Kailash. Evening at leisure. Overnight stay at Kalpa.

Day 07: Kalpa - Tabo (170 km/ 8 hrs)
Depart from Kalpa for Tabo. Arrive and check in your exotic campsite. Tabo offers the largest monastic complex of Spiti. Evening at leisure. Overnight stay at Tabo.

Day 08: Tabo
Spend the day unravelling the complex structure of Tabo monasteries. Evening at leisure. Overnight stay at Tabo.

Day 09: Tabo - Kaza (47 km/ 5 hrs)
Depart from Tabo for Kaza. Kaza is known for its asbestos mines. Evening free for exploring the local market. Overnight stay at Kaza.

Day 10: Kaza - Manali (200 km)
Depart from Kaza for Manali. Arrive and check in your hotel. Overnight stay at Manali.

Day 11: Manali
Explore local attractions like Hadimba Temple, Bashishtha Bath, etc. Evening at leisure. Overnight stay at Manali.

Day 12: Manali - Chandigarh / Delhi
Morning check out from hotel and depart for Delhi / Chandigarh.

Himachal Ladakh
Manali - Leh Overland Jeep Safari

Duration: 07 Nights / 08Days. Best Season: June to September end

The drive through this high altitude road beyond the Great Himalayan range on the edge of the Tibetan plateau connects the densely fertile Kullu valley to the barren, cold desert region of Ladakh, once accessible only from Kashmir. The journey goes through some of the most spectacular mountain scenery ever witnessed by road travellers. As one traverses the main ranges of the Himalayas, the stark contrast in the topography becomes apparent. Lahaul and later Ladakh reveal barren landscapes that assume fantastic and bizarre shapes. Surrealistic colours splash off rocks ranging from various shades of brown to rust, gold, pink and yellow. Here one traverses the roof of the world, where the Buddhist influence on the inhabitants tries to soften the rough existence they lead for mere survival.

Day 01: Arrive in Manali
Arrive in Manali. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 02: Explore Manali
Visit the historical landmarks in Manali. Visit Hadimba Devi Temple, Club House, Log Huts, Vashisht Bath & Tibetan Monastery. After noon free to stroll on the Mall and for local shopping. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 03: Manali / Jispa
Next morning, start jeep safari to Jispa (3320 m). Enroute stop at Rohtang Pass (3978 m) and visit Dashohar Lake and Beas Kund. After lunch at Khoksar (3140 m) drive past Keylong (3348 m) an oasis of greenland. Arrive at Jispa for an overnight stay in tents.

Day 04: Jispa / Sarchu
Travel to Sarchu (the border of Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir States). Sarchu (4253 m) is inhabited by a Himalayan clan, Gaddi, and is home to Indian army outpost. Enroute pass Baralacha Pass (4891 m), a junction of roads Zanskar, Ladakh, Spiti and Lahaul The word Baralacha means " a pass with cross roads". Overnight stay in tents.

Day 05: Sarchu / Pang
Morning proceed for Pang. Enroute stop at Lachluang La (5079 m) for lunch. Arrive at Pang (4630 m) by evening. Overnight stay in tents.

Day 06: Pang / Leh (Ladakh)
Morning proceed to Leh through expansive Kyungshu plains. "Kyung" the sheep like animal can be seen here. Enroute stop at Tanglangla Pass (5500 m), the highest pass with metalled road. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 07: Explore Leh
In the morning, explore the old summer palace of Shey with 12 feet statue of Buddha, Thikse, the superbly situated monastery on a hilltop overlooking the village and the Indus River and Hemis Monastery, the largest Monastery in the area. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 08: Leh - Delhi (By Flight)
Morning check out from the hotel and transfer to the airport in time to board flight for Delhi.
